Magic Stump

I went walking through the only wooded area near me in the city I currently live in with the half-baked idea to find art supplies. Of course what stood out to me was a big stump laying near the side of the main path. I spent the better part of two hours hauling it out by hand back to my car, looking by far the strangest person on the trail that morning. For a few days I simply let it dry in the sun before sanding it. As usual I did no necessary prep work and made the entire sanding process far more difficult than it needed to be, mostly just folding the sandpaper in my hand and building patience. I treating it with wintergreen oil to remove the (many) bugs that had made their home inside--It works wonders, if you're curious--after which I began stenciling and burning the pattern on top. The small circles will eventually be a rune set I have yet to complete but when I do I will add them in as well.
